In early February, DLR and FH Dortmund conducted joint pre-tests at the LaSiSe driving test site in preparation for the Winter Measurement Campaign in Garching later that month. A mock-up scenario was set up to replicate a Vulnerable Road User (VRU) lane running parallel to a street. The test setup included two radars unit and four Cooperative Localization and Sensing (CLS) nodes.

The goal was to detect both a VRU and a vehicle using the two perception technologies in parallel, while focusing on the joint recording of data using the Robot Operating System (ROS). Through this setup, the teams aimed to gain valuable insights into the use of common interfaces, data sharing between systems, and—critically—the precise timing and synchronization required for effective sensor fusion.

These pre-tests provided important practical experience to support the upcoming integration activities in Garching.
